When you find yourself in a sticky situation,
Do you automatically think to blame others?
Even if your argument is on weak foundation,
And your wrongdoings swept under the covers?
Would you apologise to people you did wrong,
And ask for forgiveness for all you did?
Or, would you change the tune of your song,
Close your mouth and cover your eyelids?
Pretend that all was alright, that all was ok,
Even if your actions severed close ties?
Would you let your pride get in the way,
And maintain your life story full of lies?
Rumors will spread and people will learn
That they'll never win a dispute with you,
And the bridges you once created, burns.
They're now people you once knew.
People that had your back for a time
And fought your battles with you
Until you fed them all your crimes
Up and away they fled, they flew.
At one point, you'll realize that you're alone.
Because they all would've fled
Your heart would've turned to stone
As you walk through life with dread.
You'll realize a lesson you'll learn
Self confrontation is always hard.
And trust is something that's earned,
And once broke, people will be on guard.
A prime moment will be looking in the mirror
At the reflection that started all the blues,
And the thought will be ever so clearer,
That the only one to blame, is you.
