I am someone that tends to look to the future and that's great most of the time. But I constantly have to remind myself to live in the now, because that's what we got. We don't know what will happen the next second. So, this poem is about pausing for a little bit and taking everything in, no matter at what stage you're at, where you're going to or what you're doing going next. Enjoy.
Do you ever wonder why
People don't ever live for today?
Afraid opportunities would pass by,
Ba-da-bing, Ba-da-boom, as they say.
We aren't satisfied with what we have now,
We're always looking for the next best thing.
Always wondering what our future's about,
And we won't stop until we're crowned king.
But remember we must stop and breathe,
Because moments can fly by too fast,
And put our swords back in its sheathe,
And treasure your life before it's passed.
When all your memories feature dollar signs,
And nothing about the life you lived
Or the beauty you left on the sidelines,
While relationships were cut and short-lived
Thinking, "Was I living life, or was life living me?"
While you realize that tomorrow's not promised,
Don't forget you're already the Queen Bee,
Remember to live, and don't just merely exist.
